Arrival Information

You might find the following useful for your visit and arrival in Manchester. Further information including directions, maps, timetable, etc is available at this website.

WELCOME RECEPTION

You are invited to join us at a welcome reception in the Fossil Gallery at the Manchester Museum on Tuesday, August 29th at 7:00pm.

REGISTRATION

There will be a conference registration desk located near the main entrance of the School which will be staffed at the following times:

Tuesday, 29th August, 8:15-8:55, 14:30-17:30
Wednesday, 30th August, 8:15-8:55

At the registration desk you will be able to receive your conference pack including badge and conference proceedings.

RECEIPTS

Receipts for conference and accommodation expenses will be available with your conference pack.

STUDENT HALL ACCOMMODATION

Participants who requested student hall accommodation are booked into either Lambert Hall or Chandos Hall.

You can collect your keys from the reception of Chandos Hall which is open from 2pm - 6pm on Monday and Tuesday. A designated receptionist will be on hand at these times. If you are not able to check-in during these times please send the following information to this address: bquick@cs.man.ac.uk.

Please let us know immediately, or by August 23rd at the latest, so that we can ensure arrangements are made for you to get your keys.

FACILITIES

The seminar room is equipped with a data projector, computer running Linux and Windows XP, overhead projector for old-fashioned transparencies, and whiteboards. You can bring your own laptop and use it for your presentation. There is a wireless network in the School, which will be usable by laptop owners. We will set up guest accounts on the local computer network for reading email and using the internet.

SMOKING

The University operates an absolute no-smoking policy. This means that no smoking is allowed in any of the buildings.

GRANT RECIPIENTS

If you have been awarded support towards your travel expenses it would be helpful if you could let us know the costs of your travel in advance. Approximate costs are fine if you don't know the actual costs yet. Please reply as soon as possible, or by August 23rd, to: bquick@cs.man.ac.uk.

Please bring copies of your tickets and receipts for travel expenses to the conference.
