By air

Manchester Airport is a large international airport (the UK's third largest airport) and currently handles 20 million passengers a year, offering direct flights to over 180 destinations worldwide by over 90 airlines. It is just 10 miles (16 km) south of Manchester city centre and is a 20-25 minute journey by direct rail link or motorway.

A taxi ride from the airport to the Chancellors Residential Conference Centre will cost about £12-15.

Direct trains run approximately every ten minutes between Manchester Airport and Piccadilly Railway Station in the city centre between 5.40am - 11.30pm, then approximately every hour through the night. The approximate journey time is 25 minutes. The rail station at the Airport is adjacent to Terminal 1 International.

A number of low cost carriers serve Liverpool Airport.

According to the Liverpool Airport website the nearest and recommended station on the local/regional rail network is Hunts Cross Railway Station. To get there take Airlink bus service No. 81A which operates every 30 minutes. From Hunts Cross Railway Station trains depart at a hourly interval for Manchester Piccadilly Station, stopping also at Manchester Oxford Road Station. Expect the train journey to take between 50 and 60 minutes.

An alternative is Liverpool Express Bus Service No. 500 is located directly outside the entrance to the airport terminal. It departs every 30 minutes for Liverpool city centre, calling at Lime Street (for rail connections), The service operates between the hours of 0515 and 0015 and leaves the airport at quarter past and quarter to the hour. Direct trains run form Lime Street Railway Station to Manchester Oxford Road Station and Manchester Piccadilly.

By train

The Chancellors Residential Conference Centre can be easily reached from Piccadilly Station, Manchester's main railway station.

From Piccadilly Railway Station, the taxi will be about £6. If you want to take the bus, you'll have to walk about 500 yards to Piccadilly Bus Station (see the city centre map), where you can catch any bus 40-48 to Owens Park on Wilmslow Road. Walk forward to the junction with Moseley Road, turn left, at the next set of traffic lights turn left (into Chancellors Way); Chancellors is on your left.

The other mainline central railway stations is Victoria Railway Station which is situated in the northern part of the city centre and therefore a bit less convenient. However you can make your way either by tram or on foot to the Piccadilly Bus Station (see the city centre map), and then proceed as above.

There is also the smaller Oxford Road Railway Station on the corner of Withworth West and Oxford Road (see the map). From the bus stop on Oxford Road you can take any bus 40-48 to Owens Park on Wilmslow Road (the name of Oxford Road further south).

If you choose to travel by train, please be aware that UK trainfares can differ significantly depending on the time of the day and if you book them in advance. Tickets that are valid during rush hours can be very expensive. If you don't travel during rush hours, you can buy a so-called Saver Return ticket from London to Manchester at the station directly before your trip for about £50. Trains for Manchester leave from London Euston Station.
