Accommodation / Conference Location / FacilitiesGeneral NoticeWe have been able to honour all accommodation requests as on completed registration forms. A summary of registration details is available on the List of Participants. The Chancellors Conference Venue
The conference will be held at the "Chancellors" Residential Conference Centre of The University of Manchester (picture below). Opened in August 1997 Chancellors is The University of Manchester's dedicated year-round residential conference centre. The comfort of hotel service supports the very best in purpose built meeting rooms - all in one building! Set in five acres of mature landscape Chancellors incorporates the historic Firs House which was built for Joseph Whitworth by Edward Walters the architect famous for Manchester's Free Trade Hall. More recently the house was home to C P Scott, editor of the Manchester Guardian. Passing into the hands of the University, the Firs became the official residence of succeeding Vice-Chancellors. The beautiful old house forms the western wing of Chancellors giving the boardrooms, bar and sitting rooms on the ground floor and five double bedrooms on the first floor. These rooms have been restored and furnished to the highest level and provide accommodation of distinction. The newly built eastern wing houses the magnificent circular Flowers Theatre - named for the current Chancellor of The University of Manchester - and the superbly equipped seminar rooms. The first floor is dedicated to single bedroom accommodation, all en-suite. FacilitiesEach of the rooms has an en-suite bathroom and is equipped with a desk, direct dial telephone, television, hair dryer and tea and coffee making facilities. All bedrooms and conference rooms have internet and data link. Secure free on-site parking is available. Please note: Chancellors operates an absolute non-smoking policy. This means that no smoking is allowed in any of the rooms, this includes in particular all the guest rooms. A few guest rooms with small balconies are available however on request from smokers who are desparate and who would otherwise not cope with the ban on smoking in their rooms. These will be allocated on a first come first serve basis. Please use the `special needs' section on the registration form for your request. Budget Accommodation in Woolton Hall
Cheaper accommodation will be on offer in a student residence hall within easy walking distance from the Chancellors Conference Centre. We have pre-booked a number of single standard rooms in Woolton Hall. All rooms have a wash basin and there are shared showers, toilets and kitchen facilities located on the corridor. The hall has a no smoking policy, except in the on-site bar. Note that our offer does not include en-suite rooms because the total price would be similar to the price charged by Chancellors. Delegates who would prefer en-suite facilities are therefore advised to choose the option at Chancellors. Alternative HotelsAlternative hotels nearby the conference venue are:
