Erroneous absence

A simple case is when ARCADE has recorded an absence for the student, but the student claims they were present. Here you would check the student is not getting confused, and ask them how you may have missed them. Obviously it may be your fault, so be ready to apologize. If you believe their claim, then simply change the cross to a tick on the appropriate old sheet. If you think they may be `fibbing', or confused, then you may instead change the cross to the excuse ``E claims was there''. In extreme cases (only), if you think the student is seriously trying to abuse the system, then you should refer them to the appropriate laboratory manager,
John Latham (email: jtl@cs.man.ac.uk) or
Alan Williams (email: alaw@cs.man.ac.uk).
