Yes/no questions

When it comes to filling in the ARCADE sheets, the main point to bear in mind is that you are answering a yes/no question about each student for most of the data. A tick means ``yes'', a cross means ``no'', and ``E'' means ``no but excused'' with the short message indicating the reason for the excuse (see § 7.4). A blank is interpreted as a cross for those columns which have ``gone passed'' i.e. the date by which one would expect to have the data has already happened (unless the value in a preceding column dictates a different intepretation). Blanks in columns which haven't passed yet are obviously interpreted as ``don't know''.
