Training for New Demonstrators

The University requires new demonstrators to attend a generic training course, in order for you to find out about some of the basics. You will need to register yourself to a session. You need to check with Laboratory Supervisors that it is ok for you to attend, since we will need to arrange cover for you.

Within the School, after the first couple of weeks of the semester, we will provide a short training session, in order for you to learn about how the laboratories operate and your role within this. We also provide these Demonstrator Notes.

In addition to this, individual course units will provide their own support, specific to their own laboratory exercises. In particular this will include support and guidance on common problems encountered by students or to help achieve consistency in marking. In order to do this, the Laboratory Supervisor will organise regular off-line sessions. If these are not arranged and you feel there is an issue with a laboratory which should be discussed then ask the Laboratory Supervisor, or raise it with the Lab Manager.
