This is based on the lab timetable for 1998/9 Some af the lab slots will be at different times. I will make sure that there are at least two 4-hour lab slots in each semester so we can cope with CS221 and CS224. I am trying to decide how many 2-hour slots are required on top of that - one, two, or three (i.e. a total of 10, 12 or 14 hours of labs). Apparently, CS234 and CS235 (which were CS203 and CS232) are both moving to machine-based labs, which pretty much have to be Windows machines. Also, numbers for CS235 may require 2 lab slots. CS221 and CS224 may need a 2nd lab slot if numbers go up, but I doubt it. I usually try and put examples classes into the opposite week to the labs, but the split into F/G/H is much less important - it doesn't matter too much if some groups are bigger than others as long as every student can get to a class. I hope no-one does CS224 and CS235 (and CS243?). I can't see any way to make use of the fact that CS204 and CS224 labs are mutually exclusive. I don't know which machines CS241 and CS243 will use. If CS241 uses Unix, it has to move to M3+2 in both wk a+b. CS234 probably has to have 2 different lab slots, rather than 1 lab on both Unix + Eng, buth there is probably no room for that on Windows. ===================================================================== Sem 1 Unix Wind Eng Other wk a/b: 208/201 234/205 241?/221(3hr) examples weekly: 211 --------------------------------------------------------------------- Mo1-3 F/G G/F ---/221(H) H/- Mo3-5 -/- -/- 241/ " -/- Th9-11 G/H H/G ---/--- F/F Th11-1 211 -/- ---/--- -/- Fr1-3 H/F F/H ---/--- G/G Fr3-5 211 -/- 241/--- -/- ===================================================================== Sem 2 Unix Wind Eng Other wk a/b: 207/209 231/204, 235 examples weekly: 243? 224(3hr),243? --------------------------------------------------------------------- Mo1-3 F/G G/F 224(H) -/- Mo3-5 -/- ?235/235 " -/- Th9-11 G/H H/G -/- F/F Th11-1 243 -/- 243 -/- Fr1-3 H/F F/H -/- G/G Fr3-5 -/- ?235/235 -/- -/-
