Transferring to red book ------------------------- Be especially careful when transfering your marks into the red book at the end of the lab - most errors have been errors in demonstrators transferring the marks. Where you transfer a mark, put your initials in the margin so we can track any errors more easily. Put your used marking sheet in the book with the others. Group changes etc. ----------------- Dont attempt to sort group changes for students; they should be referred to the person with the red book for that. Don't "come back" ------------------- If you go to someone who'se name is on the marking queue and they say they arn't quite ready, or if you mark someones work and find a small error they want to correct, dont say "I'll come back in 10 mins" - you may forget, and the student will then leave it for a few weeks, do more work, and then complain bitterly that "well, deomonstraotr Fred said they'd come back and they never did." Instead say, well, I can mark it now as it is, (maybe taking account of what you know), or you can do more work on it, in which case you'll need to put your name back on the queue (which may mean its now late). Which is that appropriate choice is for the student to decide - it's not necessarily obvious which is the best choice.
