Vasilis F. Pavlidis, PhD

I am a Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor) in the School of Computer Science at the University of Manchester and one of the academics in the Advanced Processor Technologies (APT) group led by Professor Steve Furber. My focus is on emerging technologies for integrated circuits and systems.

I am happy, in general, to discuss ideas for new PhD projects. If you are a motivated, enthusiastic, hard-working student who is also interested in pursuing a PhD degree in our group, please take a look at our research areas and publications on this website and drop me an e-mail with your CV.

PhD opportunities

Few PhD projects are available through competition funding by the School of Computer Science. Interested students are advised to apply on-line now and can start in January 2019. More info about these projects can be found here (Guaranteeing Reliability for IoT Edge Computing Systems and Power Management Methodologies for IoT Edge Devices). Another project relating to wireless 3-D ICs is also available. You can find a description of this project here (Power Transfer Methods for Wireless 3-D circuits).

Should you have questions regarding these projects or should you have other project ideas you want to work on in the areas of on-chip interconnects, 3-D integration, and emerging post-CMOS technologies, feel free to email me to discuss your project idea and please include your CV.

Post-doc opportunities

There is currently no open post-doc position in the team. Check later for available post-doc positions.
Our team just released a new thermal analysis tool for 2-D and 3-D ICs. Give it a try and tell us what you think.
