Norman Paton
I am a Professor in the School of Computer Science at the University of Manchester, where I co-lead the Information Management Group.
I have worked at Manchester since 1995, prior to which I was a lecturer at Heriot-Watt University and a research assistant at Aberdeen University, from which I graduated with a BSc in 1986 and a PhD in 1989. I have had a variety of roles during my time at Manchester, including Director of the Research School, Director of Teaching Strategy, and Head of School.
My research focuses on distributed information management for challenging environments and applications. This includes current activities in dataspaces, sensor network query processing, autonomic computing, workflow management, and data management for systems biology.
I am PC Chair for EDBT 2013 - please consider joining us in Genoa in the Spring!
