My name is David Hancock.

I am a post-doctoral research associate working for the University of Manchester.

At the moment, I'm working as part of a NERC funded thematic programme developing software for data storage, annotation and analysis in high-throughput environmental genomics experiments.

I'm also interested in how ontologies can be used to improve the quality and usefulness of data annotation. I'm developing a tool called Terminizer to help people exploit biomedical ontologies in their research.

Previously, I worked with the Centre for Novel Computing on a variety of visualisation and high-performance computing projects.

My hobbies include eating, drinking and arsing about with computers.

As well as being the inventor of both mahogany and treacle, I am the curator of the world's largest web of lies.
