Devil's-bit Scabious (Succisa pratensis) in short heathy grassland. [Aug 2011] Ragwort - Appears to be the hybrid Senecio x ostenfeldii (= S. jacobaea x aquaticus) in short grassland. This hybrid is widely recorded in Orkney. [Aug 2011]
Wild Angelica (Angelica sylvestris) in damp pathside area. [Aug 2011] Catsear (Hypochaeris radicata) seedhead in short turf. [Aug 2011]

There are several areas of heathland in Olav's Wood: Heather (Calluna vulgaris), Bell Heather (Erica cinerea) and Tormentil (Potentilla erecta). [July 2009] Meadow Vetchling (Lathyrus pratensis) on a grassy bank. This species made an attractive show along the waysides in Orkney in August, 2011.
