School of Computer Science

Tianyi Chen

I am a third year PhD student in School of Computer Science, University of Manchester. I am working in Human Centred Web Lab, Information Management Group, supervised by Dr. Simon Harper.

As part of the EPSRC funded RIAM project, my PhD research looks at accessibility problems for both disabled Web users and the Mobile Web users who access the Web from mobile devices, such as mobile phones or PDAs. I am interested in the similar problems experienced by these two user domains and ways in which solutions to the common problems can be migrated across user domains.

I received a BSc. in Computer Science and Engineering from the Tianjin University, China, in 2005. Then I came to Manchester studying a Master course in Advanced Computer Science. I received my MSc. with merit from the Univerisity of Manchester in December, 2006, two months after I started my PhD.

I am currently taking an internship in the DATA IT division of UBS AG, trying to model data flows between systems in the bank.
