TARSKI is a concerted research action supported at European level within the framework of COST (COST Action 274). COST provides a large intergovermental framework for research co-operation in the EU. The TARSKI Action covers research on the Theory and Applications of Relational Structures as Knowledge Instruments. The main objective of TARSKI is to advance the understanding and use of relational structures in applicable object domains.

The TARSKI Workshop in Manchester will be the nineth event organised since the start of the action in June 2001. It will be held September 12-13, 2004 in Manchester, UK.

TARSKI is a broad interdisciplinary initiative. Participants' interests range from fields such as preference modelling, scaling methods, fuzziness and other soft computing, to work on physical phenomena such as spatial reasoning and more algebraical or logical considerations, often supported by implemented computer systems.

The focus of the TARSKI workshop in Manchester are work areas:

Abstract submissions

Participants are invited to submit a brief abstract (about half a page) or work relating to one of the work areas WA2 or WA4 to the relevant work area organizers.

Venue

The venue for the workshop will be the Chancellors Residential Conference Centre of the University of Manchester. The Chancellors is a purpose-built conference hotel, 3 star Hotel standard. It is situated in five acres of landscaped gardens located not far from the University and the city centre.

The Advances in Modal Logic Conference is held on 9-11 September, just prior to TARSKI, at the same venue.
